Mumbai, June 22 (Reporter) The officials of Mumbai Customs have arrested two Indian passengers who were allegedly found in possession of hydroponic weed (marijuana), with a total net weight of 11.981 kilograms, having an illicit market value of nearly Rs 12 crore, at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, sources said here on Sunday.
Acting on a specific intelligence, on June 21, the officers of Mumbai Customs Zone III intercepted two Indian nationals who arrived here from Bangkok.
Upon examination of their checked-in baggage, officers recovered multiple vacuum-sealed packets containing a greenish substance, purported to be hydroponic weed (marijuana), with a total net weight of 11.981 kilograms, having an illicit market value of Rs 11.98 crore.
The contraband was concealed inside pillow covers kept in the trolley bags carried by the passengers. Both individuals have been arrested under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act...////...
