Maha: HC asks lower court to take right decision on cancellation of bail of self-styled journalist Prashant Kortakar

Kolhapur, Mar 11 (Reporter) The Bombay High Court on Tuesday directed a court in Kolhapur to take a right decision on cancellation of interim bail given to self-styled journalist Prashant Kortakar, who had allegedly threatened historian Indrajeet Sawant over his comments in a TV debate on Hindi film 'Chhaava' based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Notably, Koratkar had called history researcher Indrajeet Sawant twice and had threatened him for allegedly spreading hatred against the Brahmin community while participating in a debate on Hindi film Chhaava and had also made an objectionable statement against Chhatrapatii Shivaji Maharaj and his son Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. After a complainant was lodged against him, the Juna Rajwada police in the city tried to arrest Kortakar, who managed to secure an interim bail from the Kolhapur district court. Upon this, police filed an appeal in the HC seeking to cancel his bail for custodial inquiry. In today's hearing, the Bombay High Court refused to interfere in the case and directed the local court of Kolhapur to take appropriate decision after hearing the side of the state government in this case...////...
