Gadchiroli, Nov 17 (Reporter) Tearing into BJP's 'Ek Hain To Safe Hain' slogan given during election meetings held for the Maharashtra Assembly elections, All India Congress Committee general secretary Priyanka Gandhi claimed on Sunday that no one is safe under the Narendra Modi government's over a decade-long rule, be it farmer, worker, woman or youth in the country, if anyone is safe, it is only industrialist Gautam Adani. Addressing an election meeting held for Congress-MVA candidates here, she said, "The BJP leaders and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are seen chanting 'Ek Hain To Safe Hain' slogan for the Assembly elections. Safe means safe, but under Modi's 11-year rule, no farmer, worker, woman or youth in the country is safe, if anyone is safe, it is only industrialist Gautam Adani." She appealed public to vote carefully in the assembly elections and elect a government that works in the interest of people and not of industrialists. Targeting the BJP government in her speech, the Congress leader said that the country's first prime minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru set up big institutions, factories, ports, educational institutions, hospitals in various states after seeing the interest of the country. The successive Congress governments had never discriminated states in development work, she noted and alleged that but for last 11 years, the politics of discrimination has been going on in the country. The Modi government has discriminated against Maharashtra by diverting the big projects coming in Maharashtra to Gujarat and other BJP-ruled states, she claimed. Consequently, unemployment in Maharashtra has gone up, even 2.5 lakh government posts are lying vacant, she further claimed and alleged that most unemployed youths are ending their lives in Maharashtra. Also, recruitment is being done on contract basis, she informed. Apart from this, all the airports, ports, factories, land in the country have been given to an industrialist. Furthermore, farmers in the state are in trouble, because they are not getting the price for their farm produce, she said and pointed that the prices of cotton and soybean have not increased over past 10 years. On the contrary, during the previous Congress government, the price of soybean was Rs 7,000-8,000, as against today's only Rs 4,000. Similarly, due to ban on onion export, 50 lakh tonnes of onions were lost, she said and informed that there is no price for milk or for oranges. As a result, the income of farmers is not increasing and they are being robbed by imposing GST on agricultural inputs, she said. Talking about tribals, Priyanka Gandhi said that the Congress government enacted the Pesa Act to protect the rights of adivasis, on the contrary, tribals are being oppressed in the BJP-ruled states today. She further said that four lakh tribals in Maharashtra had applied for land parcels, out of which applications of two lakhs were rejected. Similarly, applications of 22 lakh tribals across the country were rejected, she added. She accused PM Modi and BJP of having stolen the state government in Maharashtra while referring to presence of industrialist Adani at a government formation meeting...////...
