Mumbai, June 2 (Reporter) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will chair a high-level law and order meeting on Monday evening at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai, ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha celebrations.
The session will bring together senior officials to assess security arrangements and ensure peaceful observance of the festival across the state.
The move comes amid heightened focus on maintaining communal harmony, especially following recent debates around animal sacrifice and the closure of cattle markets in some regions.
Maharashtra State Minority Commission Chairman Pyare Khan has appealed to the public to observe Eid in accordance with both Islamic traditions and local laws.
“No one should suffer from our sacrifice. Islam teaches that our actions should not harm others or disrupt brotherhood. In Maharashtra, where bovine slaughter is prohibited, only permitted animals should be sacrificed,” Khan said, urging strict adherence to regulations and respect for all communities.
In most Islamic countries, this year Eid al-Adha expected to be celebrated on June 6, and in India on June 7. Eid al-Adha is a significant festival for Muslims, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice in obedience to God.
The occasion is marked by prayers, acts of charity, and the symbolic sacrifice of animals, with the meat shared among family, friends, and those in need.
Authorities have called for cooperation from all sections of society to ensure that festivities proceed smoothly and in the spirit of peace and mutual respect.
The state government has also reiterated the importance of following all relevant guidelines to prevent any law and order issues during the celebrations...////...
