Chennai, Feb 25 (Reporter) The Madras High Court has dismissed a writ petition
seeking to disallow the Mahashivarathri celebrations at the Isha Yoga Centre in
Coimbatore from Wednesday evening to Thursday morning.
A Division Bench of Justices S.M. Subramaniam and K. Rajasekar dismissed
the plea after the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) submitted that
Isha Foundation had made seating arrangements for 60,000 people for the
Mahashivarathri celebrations last year and had complied with all the norms
prescribed by it.
The TNPCB also informed that the officials would monitor the ambient noise
level during this year’s celebrations, and check whether it remains within the
permissible limit of 75 dB(A).
After taking into account the submissions made by all sides, including the Isha
Yoga Foundation on the elaborate arrangements made, the petitioner and the
TNPCB, the judges said they did not find any reason to entertain the present
writ petition, especially when a similar writ petition filed by the same petitioner
before the 2024 Mahashiarathri festival was still pending in the High Court.

celebrations this year...////...
