Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the sacred stream of Maa Narmada is Chaitanya (conscious), and merely witnessing it is a blessing. Maa Narmada is the lifeline of the state. Out of the state’s total irrigated area of over 48 lakh hectares, 40 lakh hectares are sustained by the waters of Maa Narmada. Dr. Yadav said that just as the Paras stone transforms iron into gold, similarly, when Maa Narmada’s water reaches even the driest fields, they flourish like gold. He highlighted the state government’s commitment to rapidly expand irrigation infrastructure to support agricultural growth. Dr. Yadav said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has allocated Rs 1.75 lakh crores to enhance irrigation facilities in the state. This significant investment will kickstart major projects, including the Ken-Betwa and Parvati-Kali Sindh-Chambal river linking initiatives. Through these projects, the state aims to achieve irrigation coverage of one crore hectares. The Chief Minister made these remarks during the dedication ceremony of the Ved Garbha Ghat on the banks of the Narmada River in Chipaner, Harda district.
