Leave granted to Amritpal Singh by Lok Sabha : Centre to HC

Chandigarh, Mar 12 (Reporter) The Union government on Wednesday told Punajab and Haryana High Court that MP Amritpal Singh, detained under NSA and currently lodged at Dibrugarh jail, has been granted leave of 54 days from attending the Parliament. A bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and justice Sumit Goel was informed by ASG Satypal Jain that Amritpal's leave application has been allowed by the Parliament. Khadoor Sahib MP had, in his petition, said that being in preventive detention, he was unable to attend the Parliament proceedings and according to Article 101(4) if a member is absent from the proceedings for a period of 60 days, the Lok Sabha has the powers to declare his/her seat vacant...////...
