Leaders of opposition political parties to meet at Jammu to discuss widening of power to LG by MHA

Srinagar, July 26 (Reporter) Nearly two weeks after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) Amended the Transaction of Business Rules, the Opposition parties in Jammu and Kashmir have decided to meet on August 7 to discuss the issue. The Amendments by the MHA widened the ambit of the administrative role of the J&K Lieutenant Governor in matters related to the police, public order, All India Services, and transfers and postings, creating disquiet among the political parties in Jammu Kashmir. The opposition parties have been arguing this step will render the Chief Minister “powerless” and “disempower” the people of J&K. CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said leaders of opposition parties are scheduled to meet on August, 7 in Jammu to discuss the issue of amendments to the Transaction of Business of the Government of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Rules 2019. “All the leaders of opposition parties have been requested to attend this meeting,” Tarigami said...////...
