Hyderabad, May 26 (Reporter) BRS Working President and former Minister K T Rama Rao (KTR) has alleged a Rs 1000 crore scam involving the purchase and sale of fine rice by the Congress government. Speaking to the media at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, KTR claimed that senior leaders from Delhi are also implicated in this scandal. KTR criticized the Congress leadership, referencing the imposition of "RR tax" (indirectly referring to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy), "B tax" (Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka), and "U tax" (Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy). He accused Congress leaders of attempting to fill their pockets without fulfilling their electoral promises. He highlighted two major scams: the first involving global tenders for the sale of 35 lakh metric tons of grains, and the second involving the purchase of 2.20 lakh tons of fine rice. KTR stated that while millers were willing to buy grain at Rs 2100 per quintal, a conspiracy was hatched to lower the tender prices to between Rs 1885 and Rs 2007 per quintal. Kendriya Bhandar, LG Industries, Hindustan Company, and Naqaf were awarded these global tenders. KTR reminded that Kendriya Bhandar had been blacklisted by the previous BRS government. He criticized the current government for allowing the blacklisted company to participate in the tenders, suggesting that these organizations are involved in money laundering by taking money from millers. He demanded that the Revanth Reddy government explain why permission was given to a previously blacklisted organization. KTR alleged corruption of Rs 300 crore in the purchase of 2.20 lakh tons of fine rice for state needs, pointing out that despite the availability of fine rice at Rs 35 per kg in the state, the government bought it at Rs 57 per kg under the guise of global tenders. He suggested that these tenders were manipulated to benefit the same four companies associated with the Congress party. KTR directly questioned the Revanth Reddy government about the collusion among the four companies that submitted nearly identical bids, alleging a total scam of Rs 1100 crore. He suggested the involvement of Revanth Reddy in this affair, noting that no significant action occurs in the government without the Chief Minister's approval. KTR also hinted at the BJP’s possible role in the scam, given that grain procurement and the implementation of Minimum Support Prices in the state are managed by the Food Corporation of India (FCI), a central government entity. He pointed out that despite allegations of corruption from the BJP legislative party leader, the central government has remained silent on the issue. KTR demanded an inquiry by a sitting judge into the two tenders and called for responses from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy. He warned that if the Centre, FCI, and the Revanth Reddy government do not respond, legal action will be pursued, and the guilty will be brought before the public and the courts with evidence of these scandals...////...
