Leeds, June 23 (Reporter) India’s KL Rahul etched his name deeper into the annals of Indian Test cricket history with a sublime century against England at Headingley on Monday, bringing up his 6th Test hundred as an opener outside Asia, second only to the legendary Sunil Gavaskar.
Rahul’s century came in typically elegant fashion, drilled through the covers with a signature cover-drive, a shot so precise and authoritative that even the sweeper cover fielder stood no chance. The Indian opener returned for the second run with a roar of celebration, acknowledging the dressing room as applause echoed around the ground.
KL Rahul now has the second-most Test hundreds by an Indian opener outside Asia (6), behind Sunil Gavaskar (15) and ahead of Virender Sehwag (4).
