Guwahati, July 16 (Reporter) Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, arrived in Guwahati today to attend a series of key organisational meetings. The two leaders will attend a series of meetings, including the Political Affairs Committee meeting, the PCC Office Bearers, MPs and MLAs meeting, and later the Congress Workers' meeting. "Political Affairs Committee meeting will be held at 11 am and PCC Office Bearers, MPs and MLAs meeting is scheduled at 12 pm while the Congress Workers meeting will be held at 2:45 pm," Congress posted on official X handle. The high-level meetings are being seen as part of the party’s renewed push to strengthen its organisational base in the northeast and chart its future strategy. Recently, Rahul Gandhi was in Odisha where he addressed a huge rally centered around the theme "saving the Constitution". Gandhi yesterday spoke with the father of the 22-year-old girl from Odisha, who immolated herself because of alleged sexual harassment by her teacher, and ensured justice for the victim's family. Terming self-immolation by the victim as a "wound to the entire society", he assured that the Congress party stand with the family. "Spoke with the father of the brave daughter who lost her life in the fight for justice in Balasore, Odisha. In his voice, I felt his daughter's pain, dreams, and struggle. Assured him that the Congress Party and I stand with them at every step. What happened is not only inhuman and shameful but a wound to the entire society," Gandhi, who is the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha, posted on X.
