Bengaluru, May 5 (Reporter) The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) on Monday announced a ban on popular playback singer Sonu Nigam from performing or collaborating in any musical events across the state, following a controversial statement he made during a recent concert.
KFCC Chairman M Narasimhalu, addressing reporters here, said, "The chamber of musicians has collectively decided to cease all collaboration with him, effective immediately. This decision includes prohibiting him from performing any songs and organising any programmes."
The move, which has drawn sharp attention in the Kannada film and music industry, comes amid mounting criticism over Nigam's remarks. Narasimhalu added that the chamber would meet again in the next two to three days to deliberate on further steps, which could include a continued boycott unless the singer tenders a public apology.
The KFCC has not yet released a formal statement detailing the specific comments made by Nigam that triggered the backlash. However, sources within the chamber indicated that several members found his remarks deeply disrespectful.
Further developments are awaited as the chamber prepares to reconvene for its next course of action...////...
