Thiruvananthapurm, Apr 27 (Reporter) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has visited Vizhinjam International Seaport, operated by Adani Ports and SEZ Ltd, ahead of its inauguration by on May 2, 2025.
India’s first Mega Transshipment Container Terminal 'Vizhinjam International Seaport' will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 2.
In a message, the Chief Minister said, "Visited the Port of Vizhinjam, a monumental achievement for Kerala, ahead of its inauguration by the Prime Minister on May 2. Witnessed world-class facilities and reviewed operations that rival the best globally. Vizhinjam stands as a proud testament to Kerala’s historic progress over the past nine years."
With 265 ships and 5.48 lakh TEUs handled since its commercial launch, the country's first semi-automated transshipment port marks Kerala’s rise on the global maritime trade map.
Earlier, the Kerala Cabinet approved a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for an underground railway line linking Vizhinjam Port and Balaramapuram Railway Station.
With an investment of Rs 1,482.92 crore, this transformative project is targeted for completion by December 2028...////...
