Kenya scraps airport, power deals with Adani group

Nairobi, Nov 21 (Reporter) The Kenyan government has cancelled the proposed Nairobi airport expansion project and also a power project involving the Adani group, multiple media reports said on Thursday. As per the reports, Kenyan President William Ruto ordered the concerned government departments to scrap the deals. Ruto in his State of the Nation address said that the decision is "based on new information provided by our investigative agencies and partner nations." The development has come close on the heels of the US Justice Department indicting Adani Group chief Gautam Adani and other senior company officials of alleged bribery and fraud for obtaining solar power projects. Adani group has, however, dismissed all the allegations as "baseless" and vowed to seek all possible legal recourse. Under the proposed airport deal in Kenya, the Adani Group was to upgrade Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. The power project involves the construction of a transmission line...////...
