Kashmir valley cut off by surface transport from rest of country due to snowfall

Srinagar, Feb 1 (Reporter) Kashmir valley is cut off by surface transport from the rest of the country on Thursday due to the closure of Srinagar-Jammu National Highway amid snowfall and shooting stones at several places on Thursday. “Jammu-Srinagar National highway is blocked due to shooting stones at T2 due to heavy rainfall along the highway and snowfall between Ramsoo and Banihal," a traffic police official said. It has also issued an advisory to the people to avoid journey on the highway till the road is cleared. The historical Mughal road connecting south Kashmir’s Shopian district with the twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu division and the strategic Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) road connecting Ladakh also remained closed due to snowfall. It was still snowing at various places on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, reports said.
