Srinagar, June 19 (Reporter) Widespread rains lashed parts of Kashmir while Razdan top in Bandipora received a fresh light snowfall bringing down the temperature in the valley on Wednesday, officials said.
Razdan top mountain pass connecting Gurez valley in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district received a fresh light snowfall today much to the delight of the people of the area.
“This phenomenon is not unusual, it is a normal procedure of the weather”,Director Meteorological Centre Srinagar Mukhtar Ahmad told UNI.
“Razdan Top had also received snowfall on June 21 last year” he said.
Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir valley received widespread light to moderate rainfall resulting in considerable drop in the day temperature.
The MeT office has predicted a spell of rain/thundershower over most parts of Kashmir division and few places of Jammu division including Reasi, Udhampur and adjoining areas of Jammu and Doda today).
Ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, Tangmarg, parts of Budgam and adjoining areas of Srinagar, Poonch, Parts of Shopian and Pulwama, Baramulla may receive Hailstorm/gusty winds and intense showers for a brief period, the MeT has predicted.
“Plains of Jammu division will experience heat wave during the next five days”, it said.
Srinagar recorded a maximum of 29.5 °C and was 0.3 °C above normal for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir during this period..
Pahalgam had a minimum of 26.8°C, Kokernag 30.1°C and the ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district recorded a maximum of 20.5°C on Wednesday.
Jammu continued to sizzle in heat wave and recorded a maximum of 43.8°C which was 6.2°C above normal for the region.
Similarly, Banihal had a maximum of 31.9°C, Batote 32.1°C and Katra 40.7°C recorded on Wednesday, the MeT office said...////...
