Bhubaneswar, Apr 24 (Reporter) Indian Super League (ISL) side Bengaluru FC were knocked out of the Kalinga Super Cup following a penalty shootout defeat to Inter Kashi here. Matija Babovic’s late equaliser cancelled out Ryan Williams’s opener, sending the match into a tiebreaker, where the Blues fell short, losing 3–5 in the shootout on Wednesday evening. The I-League side created a couple of chances in the opening half, with former Bengaluru FC forward Edmund Lalrindika leading the charge. Inter Kashi nearly broke the deadlock through Prasanth Karuthadathkuni, who struck the post after latching onto Edmund’s brilliant pass. Williams and Alberto Noguera continued to find pockets of space but couldn’t break through the opposition’s sturdy backline, as the first half ended goalless. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu produced two excellent saves early in the second half, first parrying away Prasanth’s powerful strike and then denying Stojanovic’s free-kick with a sharp stop. Bengaluru FC’s persistence finally paid off when Noguera’s chipped ball found Williams inside the Inter Kashi box. The pacy winger shrugged off his marker and slotted home to give the Blues the lead. However, Inter Kashi mounted a late comeback, with Babovic netting the equaliser in the 88th minute to take the game to penalties. Inter Kashi remained clinical in the shootout, converting all of their attempts, while Noguera’s miss proved costly as the Blues bowed out of the Kalinga Super Cup 2025...////...
