Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav urged the newly appointed Anganwadi workers and helpers that their responsibility is akin to that of Yashoda Maiya, who nurtured Lord Krishna and imbued him with values, and that they too should care for every child coming to the Anganwadi as if they were Shri Krishna. He said that the appointment letters being given to the new Anganwadi workers and helpers are, in fact, a pledge to ensure children’s smiles, proper nutrition, and the health and safety of mothers. He expressed confidence that these ‘Sisters’ will discharge their duties with full dedication and commitment and will help the state achieve victory in the fight against malnutrition.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav addressed Anganwadi workers after handing over appointment letters, issued through a transparent online process, at an event held on Friday in the Assembly’s Committee Hall. Women & Child Development Minister Sushri Nirmala Bhuria, MLA and former minister Smt. Archana Chitnis, Additional Chief Secretary, Shri Neeraj Mandloi and Department Secretary G.V. Rashmi were present during the event. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav handed over appointment letters to three newly appointed Anganwadi workers and helpers as a symbolic gesture. MLA Archana Chitnis administered an oath to them to perform their duties with sincerity and honesty, contribute to achieving the goal of ‘Viksit Madhya Pradesh @ 2047’ and fully uphold their responsibility in building a well-nourished Madhya Pradesh. The newly appointed workers also observed the proceedings of the Assembly.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that even today, in villages, the Anganwadi ‘didi’ enjoys a level of respect that few others receive and that Anganwadi workers and helpers become members of the family. He recalled Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s statement that the strong foundation of ‘New India’ rests on maternal power and said that Anganwadi sisters are giving it concrete shape. He described them not merely as workers but as the village’s first teachers and nutrition ambassadors, whose efforts are reducing malnutrition among lakhs of children, raising awareness among pregnant women, and helping lower school dropout rates. He added that the state government is running various schemes to make women economically self-reliant and empowered, including increasing reservation limits in urban bodies and government jobs and providing funds to industrial groups for women’s employment.
