J&K Police seize 4.258 Kgs of narcotics

Srinagar, Jan 24 (Reporter) J&K Police in its drive against the menace of drug trafficking, have seized 4.258 Kgs of narcotics and apprehended four peddlers in two separate incidents in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said. Police said during a checking operation at Bonpora Uranhal in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, it intercepted an auto-rickshaw and during a search, 2.8 kilograms of charas powder-like substance was recovered from the possession of three individuals traveling in the vehicle. The accused have been identified as Zubair Ahmad Dar a resident of Khanabal Batangoo, Muzafar Ahmad Dar of Uranhal, and Umar Majeed Ganie of Chee Anantnag. In another incident, a police party intercepted a suspicious individual carrying a bag while approaching Chek Poshkreeri towards Poshkreeri. The individual attempted to escape upon spotting the police party but was swiftly apprehended. Upon questioning, the suspect disclosed his identity as Mohd Shafi Ganie, a resident of Chek Poshkreeri. A search of his belongings led to the recovery of 1.458 kilograms of cannabis powder from his bag. In this regard, two separate cases have been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and Srigufwara respectively and further investigation is in progress.
