J&K Police foil protest of casual labourers, several detained in Srinagar

Srinagar, Feb 10 (Reporter) Police foiled the protest of casual labourers of different departments who were demanding permanent jobs and regular salaries. Several protestors were also detained. The protesters including casual, daily wagers and seasonal labourers of different departments assembled at Sheikh Bagh area and tried to take out a procession towards Press Enclave on the bustling Residency road in Srinagar. Police swung into action and detained dozens of the slogan shouting labourers at Sheikh Bagh. The protesting labourers were demanding permanent jobs and regular salaries. “We are facing starvation and the future of our children is bleak”, the protestors told media persons. The protesting labourers said they fail to pay the tuition fee of their children at times and could not buy the medicines for their aged parents...////...
