Srinagar, Dec 20 (Reporter) J&K Police have arrested two drug peddlers in separate incidents in Srinagar and recovered contraband substances from their possession on Friday.
Acting on a specific input regarding a person identified as Bashir Ahmed Ganie, a resident of Suthsu Kalan, who had hoarded contraband substances in his residential house, a police party of Nowgam along with 1st Class Executive Magistrate raided the said location, police said.
“During the search, 8.5 kgs of Psychotropic substances were recovered from the said location and the accused owner of the house has been arrested”, they said.
A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nowgam and an investigation initiated.
Meanwhile, during the investigation of the case u/s 8/20 NDPS Act of Police Station Maisuma, a checkpoint was established at Sheikh Bagh Lane, following the disclosure of two arrested drug peddlers of the instant case, the main accused identified as Shabir Ahmad Zaindari a resident of Firdous Colony Bemina has been arrested.
During the search, a substantial quantity of contraband substances has been recovered from his possession.
