J&K Police arrest 4 drug peddlers with contraband cash

Srinagar, Mar 11 (Reporter) Police have arrested four drug peddlers and recovered contraband and cash from their possession in Kashmir valley, an officer said on Tuesday. In a drive against the menace of drug trafficking in Awantipora, a police team of Police Station Pampore at a checkpoint established at Kadlabal Pampore, intercepted a vehicle with three persons on board. During the search, officers were able to recover 290 grams of Charas like substance and cash Rs 97,500 (proceeds of narcotic crime) from their possession. The accused have been identified as Nazir Ahmad Wani of Sumurbugh New Colony, Mukhtar Ahmad Mir of of Dooru Mirmaidan Anantnag and Javid Ahmad Kawa a resident of Sumurbugh New Colony were arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. Accordingly, a case vide FIR Number 29/ 2025 under relevant sections of NDPS stands registered at Police Station Pampore. Another drug peddler was arrested during checking at Khazan Mati, Kralpora in Kupwara district. The accused, identified as Muneer Ahmad Lone, a resident of Kralpora, was intercepted when he was moving in a suspicious manner. During his search, a cannabis-like substance (apparently charas) was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kralpora and investigation has been initiated. “We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society.
