Srinagar, May 23 (Reporter) Jammu and Kashmir Congress Legislative Party Leader Ghulam Ahmed Mir has called on both the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to immediately reopen tourist destinations that were shut down last month due to security concerns.
Authorities had ordered the closure of nearly 50 resorts and tourist spots across the Kashmir Valley following a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 25 tourists and one local resident. The unprecedented violence led to heightened security measures and widespread concern for the safety of visitors.
In a bid to revive the tourism sector, Mir, who is the MLA from Dooru, met both the LG and the CM to push for the reopening of these destinations.
"Met with J&K CM @OmarAbdullah today to discuss the urgent need to revive Kashmir tourism. Highlighted the hardships faced by our people and urged for the swift reopening of all tourist spots. Let's work together to bring back the vibrancy to our beautiful valley! ," Mir said in a post on X.
On Thursday, he also met LG Manoj Sinha to stress the impact the shutdown has had on the local economy and livelihoods.
“Called on LG Shri Manoj Sinha today to highlight the plight of J&K's tourism stakeholders who've suffered huge losses due to closures. Pressed for immediate reopening of all tourist spots & compensation for those affected. Tourism is the backbone of our economy,” Mir said in a separate post on X...////...
