Ranchi, June 1 (Reporter) An estimated 29.55 percent of the total 53.23 lakh voters exercised their franchise till 11 am in the final phase of the election in Jharkhand on Saturday.
According to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jharkhand amid tight security arrangements in Godda, Rajmahal (ST), and Dumka (ST) Lok Sabha constituencies recorded around 29.55 percent votes were polled in the first four hours of polling.
Among other constituencies, 29.39 percent voting took place in Godda, 29.24 percent in Dumka and 30.04 percent in Rajmahal. Voting will take place in these areas till 5 pm.
He said the total number of voters in the three parliamentary constituencies of Godda, Rajmahal and Dumka is 53,23,886.
An estimated 12.15 percent of the total 53.23 lakh voters exercised their franchise by 9 am in the final phase of the election. Among other constituencies, around 11.46 percent voting took place in Godda, 12.31 percent in Dumka and 12.82 percent in Rajmahal was recorded in first two hours.
Among them, 27,00,538 are male, 26,23,315 are female, and 33 are transgender voters. The total number of booths is 6,258.
Of these, 489 booths are in urban areas and 5,769 booths are in rural areas. The command of 241 booths will be in the hands of women.
Whereas the disabled at 7 booths and the youth at 11 will handle all the voting arrangements. 18 booths are unique.
The Chief Electoral Officer said there are a total of 17,04,671 voters in Rajmahal (reserved for Scheduled Tribe) parliamentary constituency. Of these, 8,51,165 are males, 8,53,496 are females and 10 are third gender voters. There are a total of 2,020 polling stations in this parliamentary constituency.
There are a total of 1891 polling stations in this parliamentary constituency. Of these, 105 booths are in urban areas, and 1786 booths are in rural areas. Seventy polling stations in this constituency are completely run by women. Similarly, 1 booth is run by disabled people, and 3 booths are run by youth. 11 booths here are in unique category.
A total of 52 candidates are in the fray in these three Lok Sabha constituencies, including 14 from Rajmahal and 19 each from Godda and Dumka. This also includes two MPs and four MLAs.
The prominent candidates in these three Lok Sabha constituencies include JMM candidate MP Vijay Hansda from Rajmahal, BJP's Tala Marandi and rebel JMM MLA Lobin Hembram, BJP candidate Sita Murmu Soren from Dumka and JMM candidate Nalin Soren, MLA from Shikaripada and Godda.
