Jalandhar police nab two associates of Landa gang, seize seven weapons

Chandigarh, Nov 22 (Reporter) Jalandhar Commissionerate Police on Friday achieved a big success in nabbing two gangsters of the infamous Landa gang after an intense shootout that took place in Pholriwal village in the outskirts of the city. The police seized seven weapons along with six magazines and six live cartridges from their possession. Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said that the gangsters nabbed have been identified as Jaskaran alias Karan, of Bheekha Nangal in Kartarpur and Fatehdeep Singh alias Pardeep Saini, of Mehli Gate in Phagwara. He said that based on intelligence input, about the presence of gangsters associated with the Landa gang in the area under Jalandhar Commissionerate police, an intense operation to locate the gangsters was launched near Pholriwal village. Police surrounded both the gangsters who tried to escape the police following which the police started chasing them. The gangsters opened fire on the police which made the police retaliate following which an exchange of fire from both sides ensued. Two policemen and both the gangsters have been reported injured and are admitted to the hospital. More than fifty rounds were stated to be fired from both sides. Sharma said that the nabbed criminals were involved in numerous heinous crimes including extortion, murder, and attempt to murder, and were instrumental in providing logistical support to other gang members besides supplying weapons to criminal outfits. Preliminary investigations revealed both the gangsters were directly in touch with Landa and were hatching a conspiracy to eliminate two people belonging to their rival gang...////...
