Jerusalem, Oct 2 (Reporter) The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched an airstrike on Wednesday against a girls school within the sprawling Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, claiming it housed a Hamas command-and-control center.
"The IAF [Israeli Air Force] conducted a precise strike on terrorists who were operating inside a command and control center in the Nuseirat area in the central Gaza Strip. The command and control center, which was embedded inside a compound that previously served as the 'Nuseirat Girls' School, was used by Hamas terrorists to plan and execute terrorist attacks against IDF troops and the State of Israel," the military said.
The United Nations has repeatedly warned against attacks on schools housing displaced Palestinians in Gaza. The UN aid coordination office estimates that at least 11 schools-turned-shelters were hit by Israel in September alone, resulting in nearly 100 deaths.
Israel has been bombing the Palestinian enclave in retaliation for Hamas' October 7, 2023 attack, which left about 1,200 people dead. The Gaza health authority says Israel’s nearly year-long offensive has killed over 41,000 people and injured more than 95,000 others...////...
