Israel recalls envoy as Spain recognises Palestine

Jerusalem, May 22 (Reporter) Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has ordered recalling of the country's ambassador to Spain for consultations following Madrid's decision to officially recognise the Palestinian state, the ministry said on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said the Spanish government will officially recognise the state of Palestine on May 28. Norway and Ireland also officially recognised the Palestinian state. Israel has already recalled its ambassadors to these countries. "Foreign Minister Israel Katz ordered the recall of the ambassador to Spain for consultation and the summoning of the ambassadors of Ireland, Spain, and Norway (to Israel) for a conversation with reprimand, during which they will watch a video of the abduction of female military personnel (responsible for monitoring the border with the Gaza Strip)," the ministry said in a statement...////...
