IP University's east campus hosts 2-day book exhibition

New Delhi, May 3 (Reporter) In a bid to enrich the academic environment and foster a culture of reading, the University Information Resource Centre (UIRC) at the East campus of IP University recently organised a two-day book exhibition. The event showcased over 12,000 books from 28 renowned national and international publishers, spanning diverse disciplines such as architecture, industrial design, computer science, mathematics, and English literature, among others. According to Prof. Meenu Kapoor, Chairperson of UIRC, the initiative aimed to augment the existing collection of books in the library and provide students and faculty with access to a wide array of academic resources. "The exhibition served as an endeavour to enrich the academic experience of our students and faculty members," remarked Prof. Kapoor. The inauguration ceremony, graced by the presence of Padma Shri Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma, the Vice Chancellor of the University, saw commendations for the participating publishers. Prof. Verma lauded the initiative, expressing optimism that it would encourage and reinforce the habit of book reading among the academic community. "Promoting a culture of reading is essential for intellectual growth and academic excellence," emphasised Prof. Verma. Dr. Kamal Pathak, the Registrar of the University, emphasised the significance of promoting a culture of reading to foster lifelong learning. In his address, Dr. Pathak stressed the importance of balancing traditional paper-based reading with online platforms for comprehensive learning experiences. He also pledged support for UIRC's efforts towards the digitalization of library resources and enhancing access to e-resources for online learners. The exhibition garnered significant participation from faculty, officers, non-teaching staff, research scholars, and students of the university, underscoring the widespread interest and support for initiatives promoting academic enrichment and intellectual growth.
