Chennai, Jan 25 (Reporter) Ahead of the second T20 match against England, injury scares surfaced in the Indian team with prolific batsman Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out for the rest of the ongoing 5-match series against England, while and attacking batter Rinku Singh suffering a back spasm and they were replaced by southpaw Shivam Dube anbd Ramandeep Singh. In medical updates just an hour before the toss for the 2nd T20 match at Chepauk stadium here, BCCI said all-rounder Nitish Reddy sustained a side strain injury in the practice session yesterday in Chennai. He is ruled out of the ongoing 5-match T20I series, BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia said. Reddy will head to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for further management. Rinku Singh sustained a lower back spasm while fielding in the 1st T20I against England on January. He is progressing well and the BCCI medical team is monitoring him closely. He is ruled out of the 2nd and 3rd games of the ongoing 5-match T20I series. The Senior Selection Committee has included Shivam Dube and Ramandeep Singh in the squad. Dube's last outing for India was in August 2024, during an ODI series in Sri Lanka. He then missed India's home T20I series against Bangladesh with a back injury. Dube returned to cricketing action in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he scored 151 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 179.76, and took three wickets at an economy of 9.31. In all, he has played 33 T20Is for India, scoring 448 runs at a strike rate of 134.93 with the bat, and has taken 11 wickets. He was part of India's T20 World Cup-winning squad in the West Indies and USA last year.
