Chennai, July 25 (Reporter) Heralding a major milestone in green rail innovation, India's first Hydrogen powered coach was successfully tested at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF)--the premier Rail Coach manufacturing facility-- here today.
This was confirmed by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav in a social media post, tagging a video of the test run of the coach at the ICF.
Stating that India was developing 12,00 HP Hydrogen train, Mr Ashwini Vaishnav said this will place India among the leaders in the Hydrogen powered train technology.
"First Hydrogen powered coach (Driving Power Car) successfully tested at ICF, Chennai", he wrote.
"India is developing 1,200 HP Hydrogen train. This will place India among the leaders in Hydrogen powered train technology", the Minister added.
With this India will join the select list of countries who have hydrogen powered trains.
