Indian High Commissioner meets Yunus, raises concerns about security of Indian establishments

Dhaka/New Delhi, Aug 22 (Reporter) Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma on Thursday expressed concerns regarding the safety and security of Indian establishments in Bangladesh during his meeting with Interim Government Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus. During a courtesy meeting with Muhammad Yunus at the state guesthouse Jamuna, High Commissioner Verma raised these concerns, emphasizing the importance of security for diplomatic missions, unb reported. In addition to security issues, the High Commissioner discussed the goal of shared prosperity between the two nations, reaffirming India’s strong belief in a prosperous and stable Bangladesh. Following the meeting, Chief Adviser’s press secretary, Shafiqul Alam, briefed the media at the Foreign Service Academy, confirming that security measures have already been intensified in Dhaka’s diplomatic zone to address these concerns. After the August 5 resignation of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and her fleeing to India amid rising anti-government protests, Bangladesh has been gripped with uncertainty.
