Mumbai/New Delhi, Sep 9 (Reporter) India and the Maldives held a key meeting on the India-assisted Greater Male Connectivity project in Mumbai today, during which both sides discussed measures to ensure speedy completion of the mega infra project.
The Greater Male Connectivity Project is a 6.74-km-long bridge and causeway link connecting capital Male with the adjoining islands of Villingli, Gulhifalhu, and Thilafushi.
It is for the first time that the meeting is being held in India.
As co-chair Indian High Commissioner Munu Mahawar welcomed Abdulla Muththalib, Maldives Minister of Construction and Infrastructure, to hold the 12th review meeting of the mega project in Mumbai.
The Indian High Commission said in a post on X:
“As co-chair, HC @AmbMunu welcomed HE Minister @muththo to hold the 12th review meeting of Greater Male Connectivity Project at Videsh Bhavan, Mumbai. This is the first time the meeting is held in India.
“Both sides acknowledged the significant progress achieved on this flagship development cooperation project, and discussed measures to ensure its speedy completion.”
The project, funded by an Indian grant of $100 million and a Line of Credit of $400 million is also the biggest development project by India in its neighbourhood in recent years...////...
