Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that all Indians are moving forward by drawing inspiration from the life of Lord Buddha, embracing universal brotherhood, and promoting the values of love, compassion, truth, and equality. He stated that when Lord Buddha renounced royal life in search of truth and shared his profound wisdom with the world after intense meditation, it became a path we must all strive to follow.
Dr. Yadav emphasised that a society rooted in equality paves the way for progress, development, and the welfare of all. He was addressing a gathering organised by the Bharatiya Bauddha Mahasabha on the sacred occasion of Buddha Purnima at Ashok Buddha Vihar in Ujjain, where he also offered floral tributes to the statue of Lord Gautam Buddha. The Chief Minister extended his greetings to all on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti.
Highlighting Madhya Pradesh’s significance, Dr. Yadav noted that Sanchi holds a prominent place for followers of Buddhism and is a major pilgrimage site. He said visiting Sanchi is a matter of honour for Buddhist devotees and that it occupies a central role in the Buddhist Circuit.
On this occasion, Dr. Yadav remarked that dates fixed according to Indian astronomical calculations, such as the full moon (Purnima), hold great spiritual significance. He noted that many revered saints and spiritual figures, including Lord Buddha and Saint Ravidas, were born on Purnima. When the moon reaches its full 16 phases on this day, it radiates a divine light—and those born on such days have illuminated the world with the light of their knowledge.
He added that India’s tradition of knowledge is unparalleled in the world—a continuous and unbroken legacy from ancient times to the present day. What is most remarkable is that this wisdom remains relevant to society even today. The Chief Minister proudly stated that no one has been able to challenge India’s more than 5,000-year-old heritage of wisdom. “India is a Vishwaguru (teacher to the world), and it will continue to be so,” he affirmed.
The event was attended by MP Shri Anil Firojia, MLAs Shri Anil Jain Kalukheda and Shri Satish Malviya, Municipal Council Chairperson Smt. Kalavati Yadav, public representative Shri Sanjay Agrawal, and other dignitaries.
