New Delhi, June 12 (Reporter) The International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 will be celebrated at a grand scale in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) session. The event is set to be participated by over 500,000 yoga enthusiasts, making it one of the largest synchronised yoga demonstrations in history. In addition, over one lakh locations across the country will host ‘Yoga Sangam’ sessions, further elevating the global impact of the celebration, being held annually since 2015. Giving details of the mega event, Union Minister for AYUSH, Prataprao Jadhav, at a press conference here, highlighted that this year’s IDY is not merely a milestone; it is a call to action for a Global Wellness Movement. “The scale of IDY 2025 reflects the profound shift in global consciousness towards health and well-being,” he said. “Since its inception in 2015, IDY has garnered unparalleled enthusiasm and participation across the world. From the record-setting inaugural event in New Delhi to landmark celebrations in Mysuru, New York, and Srinagar, each edition of IDY has united people from diverse cultures in the shared pursuit of health, harmony, and peace.” In his address, Jadhav emphasised the significance of this year’s theme, ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health,’ which aligns with the global health vision promoted during India’s G20 Presidency. The theme embodies the Indian civilizational ethos of ‘Sarve Santu Niramaya’—which translates to "May all be free from disease." This profound message underscores yoga’s potential to promote collective well-being and sustainability on a global scale. “As we celebrate the 11th edition of IDY, this year is not just about reflection, but about scaling up our collective efforts,” said Jadhav. "We aim to deepen yoga’s reach across all segments of society, making it a holistic lifestyle choice for people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures." The Minister also shared details about the ten signature events planned over the next 100 days, each designed to resonate with diverse segments of society and promote yoga’s inclusive nature. These initiatives—ranging from Yoga Samavesh (promoting inclusivity) to Yoga Bandhan (fostering international partnerships)—highlight the Indian government’s strategic vision of taking yoga from the mat to the masses. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of AYUSH, shared exciting updates on global participation for IDY 2025. “Over 60 countries have already commenced their activities in the lead-up to IDY 2025, with yoga enthusiasts organizing events aligned with the theme ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health,’” he noted. This growing international participation reflects the widespread appeal and relevance of yoga as a tool for physical, mental, and emotional well-being...////...
