Visakhapatnam, Feb 2 (Reporter) Yashasvi Jaiswal's unbeaten fifty has helped India post 103/2 in the second Test of the five-match Test series against England here on Friday. Shreyas Iyer's cracking straight drive of the last ball of the first session brought the 100-run mark. Legendary English pacer James Anderson and offspinner Shoaib Bashir picked a wicket each, on a pitch that did not have any demons. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal started on a cautious note and put on 23 runs for the first wicket. Anderson troubled Rohit on his off stump but without any success. Soon, England captain Ben Stokes introduced Bashir and first Test hero Tom Hartley from both ends. Bashir snapped up his first Test wicket after getting Rohit caught in the leg slip by Ollie Pope. His 41-ball innings unusually did not have any boundaries. Shubman Gill was resolute after failing in the last two innings and managed to sew a 49-run partnership for the second wicket before edging one behind the stumps to Ben Foakes off Anderson. Since the WTC 2023 finals, Gill has scored a paltry 207 from 12 innings at an average of 18.81. Jaiswal reached yet another fifty as he took India past 100 runs mark in 31 overs along with Iyer at the other end...////...
