Islamabad, Feb 9 (Reporter) Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed independents were ahead over other parties in the country's general election results, which were being counted on Friday, media reports said.
Of the 220 National Assembly constituencies whose results were available, PTI-backed independent aspirants had triumphed in 90 seats, followed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), which secured victories in 62 NA seats, the Express Tribune reported.
The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) emerged victorious in 49 seats whereas the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) bagged eight NA seats.
Among other parties, IPP, JUI-F and PML-Q won two seats each.
