Shimla, Jan 29 (Reporter) Ongoing mainly dry weather and drought-like situations are likely to be prolonged a week as the Indian Meteorological Department forecast that till February 4 it would be mainly clear, and rain and snowfall could occur at many places on February 4 onwards.
This hill state reeling under dry weather and drought-like situations may face a shortage of water as water levels have already started receding in many rivers in the state. Dublu area under Kasumpti assembly did not get regular water supply, local residents informed.
IMD stated that inclement weather conditions are prevailing in the state, but rain and snowfall may occur at many places after February 4. Rain or snowfall likely to occur at isolated and few places in high reaches from February 1 to 2, but prevailing drought-like situation couldn't find major respite from this forecast.
According to IMD, in the month of January there is almost a 50 percent deficit in rainfall, and snowfall may recover in the coming month. The dry spell has affected the sowing of Rabi crops from October to November and in the month of January this year.
Minimum and maximum temperatures are keeping a couple of degrees above normal as the weather was mainly pleasant.
