Hyderabad, June 11 (Reporter) In a significant political and legal development, former Chief Minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) is set to appear before the Kaleshwaram Commission, which is probing alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, on Wednesday at 1100 hours.
The hearing, to be held at BRK Bhavan under the chairmanship of Justice P C Ghose, will not be conducted in camera and is expected to draw wide public and media attention.
KCR is appearing before the commission in his capacity as the former Chief Minister of Telangana to answer questions regarding the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project, one of the flagship initiatives of his government.
Sources within the BRS confirmed that KCR has taken the commission’s summons seriously. He had earlier deferred his appearance by a week to prepare thoroughly, holding consultations with senior party leaders, former irrigation officials, engineering experts, and BRS leader Harish Rao.
Party sources also indicate that KCR will hold final discussions with top BRS functionaries at Telangana Bhavan before proceeding to the hearing venue. They also emphasise that KCR is fully prepared to defend the project, asserting that the Kaleshwaram scheme was executed methodically and by all procedural norms.
