Shimla, Sep 26 (Reporter) One person was killed and five shops were damaged in a cloudburst in the Paonta Sahib area of Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district while normal life was hit in state capital Shimla due to torrential rains on Thursday, officials said.
Rangi, son of Kanshu, was buried under debris after a cloudburst struck Amboya Khala in Paonta Sahib while five shops, two small bridges, a shed, and two flour mills (gharats) were destroyed by the debris. A boundary wall and a car were also damaged, said officials.
Heavy rains have led to the formation of an artificial lake near Angle Station in Sataun, raising concerns about the safety of a colony nearby.
The rising water level could potentially flood the area, as the lack of proper drainage has allowed water to accumulate from the NH and surrounding areas, said an area resident.
Meanwhile, in the state capital of Shimla, torrential rains since Thursday morning caused severe disruptions. Roads in the city were flooded, causing traffic jams. Landslides have also been reported in various areas, with one car getting stuck in debris near Tolland...////...
