HP CM's wife, 2 women MLAs set to join surrogacy board

Shimla, Aug 29 (Reporter) The Himachal Pradesh Assembly on Thursday approved the nomination of three women legislators as ex-officio members of State Assisted Reproductive Technology and Surrogacy Board which regulates clinics and banks which offer services like In vitro fertilization (IVF) to childless couples. The members of the House gave assent to the motion on nomination of board members with voice vote without any opposition and discussion. Now the Speaker may nominate the only three women members in the House. The Board’s new members would be Chief Minister’s wife and Dehra legislator Kamlesh Thakur, Pacchad legislator Reena Kashayap and Lahaul Spiti legislator Anuradha Rana. The nomination assent followed a motion moved by the Health Minister Dhani Ram Shandil in the House on Thursday. The Minister stated in the House that in the provisions contained in Section 26 and 27 of the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021 that the members of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly do proceed to elect, in such manner as the Speaker may direct, three women members from amongst themselves to be nominated as Ex-officio Members of the State Assisted Reproductive Technology and Surrogacy Board...////...
