Srinagar, Oct 5 (Reporter) National Conference President Farooq Abdullah said on Saturday that he was hopeful that India and Pakistan would discuss bilateral issues next week during the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit held in Islamabad.
Abdullah hoped that animosities between India and Pakistan would disappear and a better relationship would start between the two nations.
The former Chief Minister was responding to queries over External Affairs Minister
S. Jaishankar's planned visit to Islamabad to attend a meeting of the SCO next week.
“ I hope that they will be able to talk on every issue. Economic issues are very important for all of us and the world itself and I am sure they will also talk about bilateral matters also,” Abdullah told reporters in Srinagar.
“ I hope the talks will be both friendly and they will try to achieve better understanding between the two countries. My best wishes to all of them,” he said.
When asked if the meeting in Islamabad would resolve issues, Abdullah said no one say what would happen there.
“ But everyone hopes that animosities will disappear and a better relationship will start between the two nations,” he said.
