Srinagar, May 16 (Reporter) Union Home Minister Amit Shah met a Pahari delegation as he arrived here on Thursday on a two-day visit to the Kashmir valley.
After his arrival, Shah met members of the Pahari community delegation from the border district of Kupwara at Hotel Lalit.
The delegation members later told the media they had come here to thank the Home Minister.
“We had no demand as our demands have already been met by the Government of India”, a member of the delegation said. adding “we came here to thank Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister”.
He said “the Pahari communities were not given justice earlier and Amit Shah and the Government of India did justice for the community”, he said.
The Home Minister is also likely to review the arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yara scheduled to begin on June 29 and culminate on August 19, 2024.
Shah will also meet the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership and discuss the political developments that took place after the conduct of Parliamentary election in Jammu and Kashmir.
He is also likely to meet some delegations from different quarters of the society during his visit.
Earlier, senior BJP leader and former minister Sunil Sharma said Shah's visit was non-political as he would chair a meeting to review the arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra 2024.
He said people from different walks of life which include Gujjar, Bakerwall, Dal dwellers; civil society members and others can meet him as there will be no meeting restrictions in place...////...
