Indore took a major step towards modernity today as Madhya Pradesh’s economic and cultural capital was officially connected to the metro rail system. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of the Indore Metro Project virtually from Bhopal. The event was graced by the presence of Governor Shri Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.
This historic moment coincided with the sacred occasion of the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar. A festive atmosphere prevailed across Indore, with enthusiastic participation from citizens—especially women. The entire event was especially themed around women.
At the Indore ceremony, Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Shri Tokhan Sahu, Madhya Pradesh Urban Development and Housing Minister Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya, Member of Parliament Shri Shankar Lalwani, Mayor Shri Pushyamitra Bhargav, MLAs Shri Ramesh Mendola, Shri Madhu Verma, Shri Golu Shukla, and Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Chairman Shri Jaydeep were present.
