Shimla, May 26 (Reporter) In a significant relief for parents, the Himachal Pradesh government on Monday revised the bus pass fare structure for students of private schools in Shimla city.
The announcement was made by Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri after a delegation of parents met him to voice concerns over the recent fare hike.
Earlier, the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) offered bus passes under two slabs —Rs 1800 for 0–5 km and Rs 2500 for distances beyond 5 km. The revised structure now introduces three slabs, offering considerable savings.
Under the new structure, the first slab will cover a distance of 0–6 km with the fare reduced by Rs 600 to Rs 1200. The second slab, for distances between 6–12 km, will now cost Rs 1800—a reduction of Rs 700. For distances exceeding 12 km, the bus pass fare will be capped at Rs 2000.
Agnihotri also announced that an online system for issuing student bus passes will be launched soon, easing the process for parents by eliminating the need for office visits.
