Shimla, Feb 12 (Reporter) Himachal Pradesh witnessed a predominantly dry weather pattern across most regions, with snowfall confined to the high-altitude areas of Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur districts. While the state saw relief from the cold wave in many areas, the higher reaches continued to face challenging winter conditions, particularly in Lahaul-Spiti, where heavy snowfall created hazardous travel conditions. Temperatures across the state varied significantly, with lower regions experiencing normal to above-normal temperatures, while higher altitudes remained in the grip of winter. Kalpa in Kinnaur received 1 cm of snowfall, while the Sissu area in Lahaul-Spiti experienced heavy snowfall, with approximately 3.5 inches (9 cm) of snow accumulation on roadways. The district administration of Lahaul-Spiti has urged extreme caution due to the hazardous road conditions. Key advisories include a high risk of vehicle skidding on snow-covered roads, the use of snow chains, and driving with utmost caution if travel is unavoidable. For immediate assistance, contact the nearest police station or control room. While the rest of the state enjoys relief from the cold wave, Lahaul-Spiti district remains under the influence of heavy snowfall. The district administration has emphasised that roads are slippery and unsafe, and driving in the snowbound district is not advisable. Residents and tourists are urged to prioritise personal safety and public welfare. Authorities have reiterated the importance of staying updated through official channels and avoiding unnecessary travel to prevent accidents...////...
