HD Kumaraswamy practises yoga at Salem Steel Plant

Salem (TN), June 21 (Reporter) Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel, HD Kumaraswamy, participated in the 11th International Yoga Day celebrations held at the Salem Steel Plant. The Minister joined factory staff, their family members, senior officials, members of the Steel Authority of India (SAIL), and top officials from the Ministry of Steel in performing yoga. Under the guidance of yoga instructors, the Minister performed some key and simple asanas and pranayama at the Hill View Sports Ground located in Salem Township. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Kumaraswamy said, “Yoga has been a way of life in India since ancient times. A practice once limited to India was brought onto the global stage by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he took office eleven years ago. As a result, June 21 is now observed as International Yoga Day across the world. Full credit for this achievement goes to Prime Minister Modi.” “I am very happy to have had the opportunity to participate in the Yoga Day celebration alongside the staff, officers, and their families at the Salem Steel Plant. It was a moment of joy and privilege to experience the uniqueness of yoga with the backbone of our nation—the steel community,” the Minister added. “Yoga is not merely a physical exercise; it is an effective path to mental peace, mental clarity, physical well-being, and collective welfare. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has united the world. Our traditional yoga has made an extraordinary contribution to global well-being,” Kumaraswamy remarked.
