Chandigarh, Sep 12 (Reporter) Anil Vij, former Home Minister of Haryana and BJP candidate from Ambala Cantonment, on Wednesday took a dig at the Congress for releasing its lists of candidates late in the night to allegedly minimise scope for protests by unsuccessful ticket aspirants.
"All the dark deeds of the world happen at night, which is why the Congress has released its list at night," said Vij, a day after the Congress released a list of 40 candidate on Wednesday night. While the BJP had released its candidate list much earlier, the Congress released its list on the lastday of nominations, he said. He also expressed confidence of winning from Ambala, claiming no amount of campaigning by Bhupinder Singh Hooda or Rahul Gandhi can stop him from victory. Vij also accused the Congress of resorting to appeasement and pointed to the ongoing controversy related to alleged illegal construction in a mosque in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, and protests over it.
