Chandigarh, Jan 10 (Reporter) Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday said that the BJP government's performance in Haryana is being exposed by its own figures.
The government figures show that during the BJP rule, Haryana has become the poorest state in the country, where 75 percent of the population is living Below the Poverty Line (BPL).
Hooda said the total population of Haryana is 2.80 crore. “It is very sad that out of this, 2.11 crore people have been pushed into the quagmire of poverty by the BJP'.
'Their being BPL means that the BJP government is not able to provide proper employment, quality education, health care, adequate food, clean water, proper sanitation and safe housing to such a large population,” he said.
The former Chief Minister said Congress had raised this issue in the assembly as well. “At that time 70 percent of the population in Haryana was shown as BPL. The government had said that it would investigate it, but after the investigation, this figure increased by 5 percent. That is, poverty is increasing very fast in the state,” he added.
Hooda said during the Congress tenure, Haryana was the number one state in the country on every scale of per capita income, per capita investment, employment generation and development. “But in 10 years, BJP made Haryana the number one state in the country in unemployment, inflation, debt and poverty.
It is clear from the government figures that the economy of Haryana is running in reverse gear during the BJP tenure,” he noted...////...
