Ambala, Oct 5 (Reporter) Former Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij on Saturday said if the BJP wants he can become the next Chief Minister after the party's victory in the Assembly election, asserting that he has never gone against the party's decision.
Speaking to reporters outside a polling booth, Vij claimed that the BJP is going to form the government for the third time in Haryana.
Asked whether he was a possible candidate for the Chief Minister's post, he said, "If the party wants, the next meeting with you will be as a Chief Minister."
He claimed that he never staked a claim to the CM's post.
He said that when the BJP formed government in 2014, he could have been made Chief Minister as in previous government's tenure he was leader of BJP's legislators and had done a pretty good job.
Vij said that even in March this year when Nayab Singh Saini replaced Khattar, he did not stake claim to the CM's post.
"Later people started asking "Why not Vij?, so I said that if I am made Chief Minister, I will change the picture and future of Haryana," he said.
Notably, last month when Vij had claimed stake to CM's post, the top leadership of BJP including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Party's National President J P Nadda have clarified that the party was contesting elections under the leadership of Saini and he was party's Chief Ministerial candidate.
In fact, the BJP, during the campaign, targeted Congress for not declaring a Chief Ministerial candidate...////...
