Chandigarh, Dec 9 (Reporter) Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Kumari Selja on Monday accused the BJP of being intent on creating unrest in the country and Haryana while ignoring issues of public interest. "Drunk on power, the BJP is ignoring issues of public interest. To avoid addressing public concerns and answering questions about the violence in Manipur and Sambhal, the BJP targets Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi in Parliament, so he cannot voice the concerns of the people," said Selja. The BJP is busy creating unrest in the country and the state," said Selja. She said Gandhi has consistently raised public issues in Parliament and sought answers from the government regarding the violence in Manipur and Sambhal. "However, the government is avoiding responding to these issues, making Rahul Gandhi a target for the BJP," she said. Selja said democracy denotes the power of the people. She said that in Haryana, the public wanted a Congress government, and the wave was in favour of Congress, but something unexpected happened. "The Congress party is deliberating on the reasons for the loss," she said. Selja criticised the BJP government for ignoring farmers' voices. "Whenever farmers attempt to present their concerns through protests, tear gas shells are fired at them," she said, calling the government's |repressive" policies "unacceptable". Kumari Selja said if the government genuinely wants to resolve farmers' issues, it should engage in dialogue rather than adopting a suppressive approach. She said the BJP government’s "mistreatment" of farmers has exposed its "anti-farmer" stance. "On one hand, the government claims to frame policies for farmers' welfare, and on the other, it forcibly suppresses peaceful protests by farmers demanding their rightful claims," she added...////...
